Pokemon Delta Reign

Is Pokémon Delta Reign Worth Buying?

Pokémon Delta Reign is the sixth main expansion of the Mega Evolution series, hitting stores worldwide on November 6, 2026, with prerelease events starting October 24. It is the English version of Japan’s Storm Emeralda (released July 31), but with a bigger main set of 103 cards and more than 135 cards in total once secret rares are counted. Mega Rayquaza ex leads the set in its first TCG appearance since XY Ancient Origins, backed by three more new Megas: Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex and Mega Golisopod ex.

The set also debuts Legendary Stadiums, pairs of Stadium cards whose art joins into one panorama, with Legendary Summit, Legendary Ocean Trench and Legendary Lava Lake nodding to Rayquaza, Kyogre and Groudon. Because Storm Emeralda has been on Japanese shelves for months, collectors already have real market data on Delta Reign’s chase cards. That gives us a head start on the big question: is Delta Reign worth your money, and if so, which way should you buy it?

The Delta Reign Chase Cards

The value in Delta Reign sits overwhelmingly in Mega Rayquaza ex, and in Storm Emeralda the gold version is worth more than every other card in the set combined. Its Special Illustration Rare, drawn by 2024 Pokémon Illustration Contest winner Kazuki Minami, is the clear second chase and is worth several times the next best card.

Raikou ex SIR is a distant third, followed by the full-art Mega Rayquaza ex Ultra Rare, the Zinnia’s Trust SIR, the Mega Golurk ex and Mega Golisopod ex SIRs, and the Groudon and Kyogre Illustration Rares.

Beyond that top tier, most regular Illustration Rares are worth very little, though the Hoenn weather trio gives the set a natural binder page. Expect the English order to shuffle a little, because in Pitch Black the English SIR ended up worth more than the gold card, the reverse of Japan. If that pattern repeats, the Mega Rayquaza ex SIR could rival the gold card as the top English chase.

Delta Reign Pull Rates

If you are opening packs hoping for a Mega Rayquaza ex SIR or gold card, the odds are long. English pull rates will not be known until after release, but Storm Emeralda gives a useful preview.

TCGTalk’s opening sample of 1,380 Japanese packs (46 boxes) turned up:

  • Special Art Rare: about 0.14% of packs, roughly 1 in 23 boxes
  • Mega Ultra Rare (gold): also about 0.14% of packs, roughly 1 in 23 boxes
  • Mascot dominance: every top tier pull in the sample was a Mega Rayquaza ex
  • The rest of the box: around 2 Art Rares, 2 Super Rares and 1 gold Ultra Rare per 30-pack box, with about 83% of packs holding nothing better than a regular Rare or Double Rare

Keep in mind that Japanese and English products are built differently. A Japanese Storm Emeralda pack has 5 cards and a box has 30 packs, while an English Delta Reign pack has 10 cards and a booster box has 36 packs. The exact English odds will differ, but the shape will be the same: a handful of nice hits per box, and the real chase cards spread very thin across the print run.

Which Delta Reign Product Should You Buy?

Pokemon Delta Reign ETB

At retail price, the Booster Box gives you the lowest cost per pack, but two other products are worth a close look. The Elite Trainer Box is the most complete package, pairing 9 booster packs with a full-art foil Kyogre promo, so every buyer walks away with one of the Hoenn weather trio guaranteed. Its sleeves, Energy cards, dice and storage box are genuinely useful for players, making it the easiest pick for gifts, new players and Hoenn binder builders.

Pokemon Delta Reign Booster Bundle

The Booster Bundle is the budget friendly option, matching the Booster Box’s price per pack at retail without the commitment of 36 packs. It is perfect for testing your luck on release day or grabbing a few packs at big-box stores where Booster Boxes rarely appear. Just skip any bundle listed far above retail, since the premium wipes out the value that makes it worth buying.

✅ Pros

  • Mega Rayquaza ex, one of the most popular Pokémon ever, headlines the set in multiple premium versions
  • Rayquaza, Groudon and Kyogre make a natural Hoenn binder page
  • The Elite Trainer Box includes a guaranteed full-art Kyogre promo
  • Legendary Stadiums are a fresh mechanic, and packs always include both halves
  • Storm Emeralda’s Japanese market data gives buyers a preview of chase card values

⚠️ Cons

  • Value is heavily concentrated in Mega Rayquaza ex, and most Illustration Rares are worth little
  • The top chase cards are very rare, about 1 in 23 Japanese boxes for each top Rayquaza
  • Marketplace preorders are trading far above retail
  • English pull rates and prices will not be clear until after release

Final Verdict

Pokemon Delta Reign Booster Box

Yes, Pokemon Delta Reign is worth buying at retail price, especially if you are a Rayquaza fan. Mega Rayquaza ex carries the set, and the Hoenn weather trio plus the Raikou ex and Zinnia’s Trust SIRs give collectors plenty to chase beyond it. Because the top cards are so rare, treat opening packs as fun first, and if you only want one specific Rayquaza, buy the single once English prices settle after release.

For sealed product, the Booster Box gives the best price per pack, the Elite Trainer Box is the best gift, and the Booster Bundle is the easiest budget entry. Skip preorders listed above retail, since Pitch Black’s marked-up preorders dropped anywhere from about a third to 80% within ten weeks of release. Rayquaza has headlined some of the most loved sets in TCG history, from Roaring Skies to Evolving Skies, and Delta Reign has the same star power as long as you buy smart.
