Mega Evolution, the next expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, has been officially unveiled by The Pokémon Company International. This new set is scheduled to launch on September 26, 2025, marking the beginning of a new TCG Series and reintroducing the highly anticipated MEGA Evolution ex cards, which were first teased on Pokémon Day 2025.
These powerful new Mega Evolution ex cards will introduce a significant strategic element to battles, as they award three prize cards when knocked out. Players will need to carefully consider the risks and rewards of including these formidable Pokémon in their decks.
The Mega Evolution expansion will also debut a new art style for ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards. This new aesthetic may feature a silhouette of the regular version of the Pokémon on its ultra rare Mega Evolution card (for example, Mega Lucario ex could display a silhouette of Lucario).
Following the precedent set by the Japanese sets, Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia, Mega Evolution will expand the range of ultra rare cards beyond just Pokémon and Supporter cards. For the first time, players can look forward to collecting ultra rare Item, Stadium, and Pokémon Tool cards.
The expansion is described as a pursuit of strength, with Pokémon of all types striving to achieve their Mega Evolution forms. Trainers can expect to harness the formidable power of cards like Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex, both boasting devastating attacks and massive HP.
The Mega Evolution expansion will feature:
- Over 180 cards
- Nearly a dozen Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
- More than 15 Trainer cards
- More than 50 Pokémon and Trainer cards with special illustrations
